🚨 Scam Alert: Fake Password Expiration Emails

Phishers are back at it, this time with emails claiming your company password is about to expire. The subject line looks urgent, something like:

“Reminder: Update [your email] password by 22/09”

 

The email even drops your actual email address inside the message to make it look legitimate. But take a closer look:

🧠 Red Flags to Watch For

• Sender mismatch: The email comes from an address like milo@apluserivce.com, not your company or IT provider.

• Generic formatting: No official branding, and weird language like “We’ll not be responsible for any MS office loss.”

• Suspicious links: The “Confirm Password” button is designed to harvest your credentials.

• Scare tactics: Claims your password will “expire in 2 days” to pressure quick action.

• Do not click the “Confirm Password” link.

• Report it immediately to IT/security.

• Remember: Your real IT team will never send password reset notices with threats or deadlines like this.

Zoom out: Hackers prey on urgency + fear. Anytime you see “Your password is expiring,” double-check the sender before you click.
